Cr George Creed
Mayor George Creed was first elected to office in 1976 as a Councillor for the former Calliope Shire Council. Since then he has served continually in local government being elected to the office of Mayor of Calliope Shire Council in July 1995. When the Queensland Government legislated to amalgamate the former Gladstone City, Calliope Shire and Miriam Vale Shire Councils, Mayor Creed was successful in his election to the office of Mayor of the new Gladstone Regional Council.
Mayor Creed has extensive local government experience and in 2006 was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his services to Local Government and the community.
George is a grazier and owns property in the Raglan area. As a pilot he has a keen interest in aviation and his Raglan grazing property has been the venue for the Raglan Old Station Fly-in and Air Show for fifteen years which is run to raise money for very worthy organisations such as the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service.
During this inaugural term on Council, Mayor Creed will be striving to ensure that Council provides a mix of services to the community in a manner that is both professional and financially responsible.

Cr Gail Sellers
Portfolio: Parks and Recreation
Cr Gail Sellers was first elected to the Gladstone City Council as an Alderman in 1988 and held the position of Deputy Mayor from 1997-2008. Gail was successful at the first election for the new Gladstone Regional Council and was appointed Deputy Mayor by the unanimous vote of her fellow councillors.
The combined councils much larger area provides new challenges for the region but the experienced council team is ready.
Gail is a Director of the Gladstone Area Water Board; Life Member and Patron of many organisations; and enjoys all aspects of community representation.
When first elected in 1988, the vision for a ring road around Gladstone was only at the discussion stage. Today, 2 stages of Kirkwood Road are complete and the planning for Stage 3 is well under way. These are the results which make Local Government representation most rewarding.

Cr Maxine Brushe
Portfolio: Community Services
Cr Maxine Brushe holds 13 years experience as a Councillor for Calliope Shire and has worked in the public service and as a small business operator. Maxine has extensive community development experience, including leading the team that developed and built the Bindaree Lodge Aged Care facility at Boyne Island. Maxine acknowledges that the first term of Gladstone Regional Council will be one of immense challenges. Acquiring knowledge of an entire region will be an enormous undertaking, albeit a worthwhile one, and Maxine is confident that it will be done to the best of Council’s collective abilities.
Maxine is looking forward to getting to know the greater regional community and serving them as a responsive and responsible representative.

Cr Matt Burnett
Portfolio: Infrastructure
Born and raised locally Cr Matt Burnett is the youngest Councillor on the Gladstone Regional Council. Matt supports the continued growth of the Gladstone Region and he encourages Council investment in new and improved infrastructure from roads and sporting fields to libraries and community centres. Matt is the Gladstone Regional Council’s Infrastructure Portfolio spokesman and Council’s representative on the Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Ltd (GAPDL), Traffic & Environment Advisory Committee and the Urban Local Government Association of Queensland. He also represents the area on the Gladstone Health Community Council.

Cr Clyde Cameron
Portfolio: Airport
Since being elected to the Calliope Shire Council at the beginning of its last term, Cr Clyde Cameron served on the Valuation Review Committee, the Land Protection Committee and the Legislative Review Committee. Clyde intends to use the benefit of this experience to continue his involvement in these areas. He supports an ardent interest in rational environmental usage and maintaining a lifestyle balance for the region. Whilst Clyde recognises the great diversity of the region, his knowledge of working and making a living “on the land” allows him to provide an informed voice for the rural communities.

Cr Lyn Paton
Portfolio: Finance
Cr Lyn Paton has served in Local Government for more than eight years, and has enjoyed it immensely. Her elation at being elected to represent the new Gladstone Regional Council has given her new energy for the challenges ahead. Lyn recalls many proud achievements on behalf of the community throughout her role as Councillor for Calliope Shire. Raising over $9,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and over $16,000 through coordination of the “Bulls and Bands for Larry” event are two of the most memorable achievements, bringing Lyn joy on a personal, as well as a professional level.
Lyn is very much looking forward to embracing the opportunities ahead and continuing to make a valuable contribution to the community.

Cr Craig Butler 
Portfolio: Development
Prior to being elected to Gladstone Regional Council, Cr Craig Butler enjoyed 11 years as a Calliope Shire Councillor. During that time, Craig served as Deputy Mayor and held positions on a number of committees and boards including eight years as Director of the Gladstone Area Promotion & Development Ltd and more than three years as Director on the Gladstone Area Water Board.
In addition to his comprehensive understanding of Local Government, Craig holds extensive experience as a surveyor in the land development, construction and mining sectors. Craig plans to work with the community, fellow Elected Members and Council staff to deliver excellent services and achieve the best outcomes for the entire region.

Cr Rick Hansen 
Portfolio: Corporate Services and Governance
Cr Rick Hansen served on Gladstone City Council for two years, and stood for Gladstone Regional Council to continue his passion for community service. Rick holds a particular interest in infrastructure planning, sport and recreational planning, communication strategies and aged care advocacy.
Rick is Council’s representative for numerous committees and boards including Palm Drive Junior Sports Association, Gladstone PCYC, Local Disaster Management Group, Bundaberg Region Ltd Board and the Gladstone Entertainment Centre. Rick and his wife, Lyndal are long-term residents of the region. He has a background in middle management at QAL and as a small business operator. Rick enjoys music and travel and holds a keen interest in sport.

Cr Col Chapman
Portfolio: Environment & Regulation
Cr Col Chapman cites many compelling reasons for standing for Council, but serving the community is uppermost in his mind. Having thirty odd years experience in small business and various sporting and community groups in Gladstone, Col’s wish is to put back into the community what it has given him over the years.
Apart from offering Council his financial and business skills, Col’s passion lies with the environment, with the firm belief that clean and healthy air is our right, even in an industrial city. Col has two sons, Craig, 29 and Todd, 27 and two chihuahuas, Sherbet & Chilli. He enjoys golf, sailing and swimming, and is eager to find more spare time to paint.
