Healthy Active Gladstone Region is a strategy to get the inactive active and the unhealthy healthy. A range of projects have been developed to assist residents, organisations and businesses of the Gladstone Region to BE SMART and TAKE PART.

Getting Active Options

Here are over 50 fun ideas to get active:

  1. Get yourself in a good mind set to be active – be inspired and inspire others
  2. Make a family commitment to be active
  3. Be excited to move your body – find the fun
  4. Make the time, your life or the life of your family depends on it
  5. Put signs up around the house to remind you to be more active
  6. Talk to yourself regularly about how good you are feeling when you do some physical activity
  7. Look in the mirror regularly to see how great you look now your getting active

AT HOME and AROUND THE NEIGHBOURHOOD:

  1. Make an obstacle course in the back yard (or inside). Time the kids and yourself to complete the circuit
  2. Set up a home exercise circuit with any exercise equipment, weights, skipping rope, trampoline or steps. Put on a good CD and do a station per song!
  3. Wash the car (and the neighbours car when they ask!)
  4. Get that gardening done! mowing, weeding and pruning are great ways to be active
  5. Do exercises while you are watching TV
  6. Take the kids out for a game of backyard cricket or soccer (involve the neighbours)
  7. Put a CD on and dance
  8. Encourage your neighbour to go walking and make it a regular event.
  9. Go for a ride on your bike!
  10. Take the dog for a walk ~ you need it as much as him!
  11. Put on that exercise DVD (that is now probably in the back of the cupboard) and give it a go!
  12. Think up an aerobics session and do in the lounge room or in the pool!

  8. Doing fun exercises in your chair at work – get colleagues to join in if they think you are crazy.

  3. Spend a day at the beach or river, fishing
  4. Visit the local pool ~ check out the regular activities while you are there!

  10. Join up for boxing training
