Calliope Community Centre
The Calliope Community Centre was officially opened in November 2008.
Opened before a gathering of Gladstone Regional Council and community representatives, Mayor George Creed said the centre would provide a modern, air-conditioned facility, suitable for a range of functions.
"This centre is purpose-built and Council did extensive consultation in the designing phase, which has ensured these facilities meet the needs of a range of groups and individuals," Cr Creed said."This project involved major extension and renovation work of the former Calliope Library and the result is quite impressive.
"There are several aspects of this facility that stand out, but the most significant are the practicality of the kitchen and the size and acoustics of the function room itself."
Cr Creed said the centre could accommodate about 120 guests in air-conditioned comfort.
