Major Projects

The Gladstone Region truly is a Region of Choice, offering a great place to live, work, play and invest. Whilst major industrial facilities dominate Gladstone and Boyne Island, the region also features coastal towns and rural farming areas.

Major projects currently being undertaken by the Gladstone Regional Council include the Gladstone Airport Reconstruction Project, the Agnes Water / Seventeen Seventy Integrated Water Project (Desalination Plant) and the Seventeen Seventy Foreshore Revelopment Project. Airport Reconstruction This is the single largest infrastructure project that Council will undertake in the current term. The airport caters primarily for business and leisure travellers and freight activities associated with the region’s developed and emerging industrial complexes.

Agnes Water/Seventeen Seventy Integrated Water Project Gladstone Regional Council has placed a high priority on providing solutions to limited water supplies in the former Miriam Vale Shire.

Agnes Water Community Centre Complex Construction on Stage One of the much anticipated Agnes Water Community Centre Complex is poised to commence, with Gladstone Regional Council last week awarding the project tender to local construction company Finecorp Industries.

Kirkwood Road Project In 2004, Council developed a Kirkwood Road Structure Plan for the SW section of the City. The Plan caters for a population increase of more than 5000 people and presents a blueprint for the future of an important part of the City.
